The Levant, encompassing present-day Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, and parts of Israel, has been a focal point of cultural, religious, and political intersections for millennia. In the modern era, the aftermath of World War I reshaped the region, with the Sykes-Picot Agreement dividing territories between British and French mandates. This colonial legacy laid the groundwork for contemporary state boundaries but also for many of the geopolitical tensions witnessed today. The rise of Arab nationalism in the 20th century, coupled with regional conflicts and the devastating civil war in Syria, further underscore the Levant's intricate political landscape. In recent years, economic and political challenges has continued to grapple the Levant.
